Part 1 written exam and hazard perception
This is the first part of your training programme and the test involves a paper of 100 multi choice questions based on various motoring matters, the pass mark is 80% . There is also a Hazard Perception test very similar to that of a standard learner driver, however the pass mark for a potential driving instructor is naturally much higher !! You are shown 15 video clips and will are marked on how quickly you can spot the potential hazard .
All publications and cd roms are provided with excellent back up support..
Part 2 Driving Ability
When you have successfully passed your part 1 exam the next part of the qualifying process is your driving test. Be aware that this is not just a difficult Learner test. It is an advanced driving test and a very high standard of driving is expected. The test will last for 1 hour and will cover driving on a variety of roads dealing with different traffic situations in an expert fashion. You will also have to do 5 set reversing exercises and a controlled emergency stop.
You will be supplied with your Buzz training manual and provided with 14 hours driver training to get your driving up to the standard required. The test is normally taken at your local driving test centre.
Part 3 Teaching Ability
This is the final part of the qualifying exam to become a driving instructor and is the most difficult to pass. The test is for 1 hour and you will be expected to teach on 2 different driving subjects at 2 different levels.. The examiner will go into what is known as role play and act out the part of a typical learner driver at particular level
You will be provided with your unique Buzz training manual and given 36 hours training to reach the standard required to pass this searching exam. Training is provided locally in your area and you can opt to do your training intensively if you want to qualify quickly.

Some Common Questions
Will I have to give up work while I am training ??
No definitely not, the training courses are tailored around you so that it fits in well with your life, remember the training for part 1 is mainly home study and part 2 is normally delivered in blocks of 2 to 4 hours unless of course you opt to do the course on an intensive basis.
What vehicle do I use for training ??
Unless special requests are made you will normally use your own vehicle for the training programme. Remember that the part 2 training will involve you driving and practicing certain elements of your driving as instructed by your trainer. If however you have a problem using your own vehicle we can supply a suitable car for you to use. It is not a legal requirement for you to attempt the part 3 exam (instructional ability) but the car must be insured for the DSA driving examiner to drive as he/she will be acting out the part of a learner driver for the duration of the test.
How long does it take to qualify ??
This all depends on how quickly you want to pass, your ability, to learn and the availability of examination slots at the local designated instructor training test center.
It is possible to pass all three exams in under 12 weeks. Remember you can learn at a pace that is suitable to you. You have 2 years to pass all three parts.
